Our First Home

So Lan and I are in the process of purchasing our first home. Everything went so fast. We met with a real estate agent on Thursday, saw homes on Friday and Saturday, and chose the one we loved on that Saturday. The Tuesday following we put an offer out on the home. Once we submitted our offer we found out that someone else had also put in an offer. We had to re evaluated our strategy and eventually kicked that person out of the game. The bank then gave us a counter offer which we refused and walked away. After several days they gave in and finally accepted our offer. We had the inspection done and our house past with flying colors. At the moment we are waiting on the appraisal and the paper work for the loan to go through. January 12th is our anticipated closing date. So within about 1 month time frame we search, chose and will eventually close on a home.

We're super excited and can't wait for everyone to come and see it.

Weekend in the Lonestar

We went to Dallas over the weekend to visit Mona, and the boys went to the Dallas Cowboys game. We had a great weekend. The food in Dallas is awesome, the steaks were amazing. It was also the anniversary of when JFK got shot, so we went to the site where it all happened. Just by Elm and Houston street, the Presidents car turned the corner and was assassinated.

My Husband the Chemist

So my husband is a Chemist at Sun Products Corp, he works in the Research and Development department of personal care. He told me one day he was going to create his own body wash and call it Express. Well being the dork that he is, he really did. He measured the ingredients, mixed, bottled and labled this all by himself. The original scent was Cherry Blossom, but he thought is was too sissy so renamed it Cherry Mist. As if a man who made his own body wash wasn't silly enough. There's a bottle in our bathroom and he even put one in my parents bathroom.

One day I woke up and found my Conditioner missing. I didn't have to think too long to figure out who the culprit was. I picked up the phone and called my husband....Me:"hey honey did you steal my Conditioner?" Husband: "UUUUhhh yup!" I just wanted to test it at my lab to see the level of viscosity" . I didn't care to know the level of viscosity of my conditioner, I just wanted my products back. Yes he is a nerd, but I love him.

I wanna learn how to play the Electric Violin

I use to play the violin when I was younger and wish I kept up with it. This girls is amazing, she can play anything. Here's "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton, and I had to add Barbie Girls by Aqua

It's Halloween time again

What to be this year? I haven't even started looking for my outfit again. Last year we were Ninja and Geisha.

Asian Basketball League

The Contenders minus my husband who had to run back to school to take his Finals
Cheering for my Homie Kenny Penny..Kenny You Da BeH! (in a fobbish Asian accent)
WVC 3 time Champions
It's almost that time of year again. When WVC, ISO, JRCB (I like to call them Jr Cheese Burger), Contenders, Got Rice? meets on the b-ball court for their semi annual Asian Basketball tournament. Unfortunately my husband wont be playing this year because he hurt his knees. He sure has a lot of love for the sport. Who goes and play basketball two weeks after getting injured only to re injure his knees. He never cared who's team he was on as long as he got to play his favorite sport. Throughout the years he's been a member of the OrangeMen, Got Rice? The Contenders, and even played with the Korean Team, even though he's clearly not Korean. Though he's not playing this year, I'll still be there to support all my homies and family member.

Dallas here we Come!

My husband, cousin, sister and I are super excited to be visiting Dallas for our first time. The hubbie's goal was to go to at least one NFL game. His team, the 49rs are playing against my cousin in law's team: The Dallas Cowboys. Lower bowl 9th row tickets: $250, seeing him all giddy like a little school boy: Priceless. But I'm more super excited to go hang out with one of my bestest friend, Miss MonaLouwho. We're leaving a week before Thanksgiving. It's gonna a blast. Mona and I at my Bridal Shower

Go Utes

The Utes takes another win over Wyoming this past weekend, making my Alma Mater still undefeated this season

Our big fat Asian Wedding

Khmer weddings symbolize the beautiful legend of the origin of Cambodia and parallels the marriage of the first Khmer prince, Preah Thong, to the naga princess, Neang Neak. The prince was a foreigner exiled from his homeland, and during his travels encountered and fell in love with the naga princess.
Friday August 8,2008 we kicked off our wedding with a traditional Monk blessing. After some kind words of prosperity and love for our marriage, we continued to our symbolic hair cutting ceremony. In ancient times the bride and groom get a real makeover symbolizing a fresh start as man and wife. In our case guest of the wedding only pretended to cut our hair and "groom us" for our new beginning. Friday night wrapped up with pictures with the family and a meal prepared by aunts and uncles. Early Saturday morning..5 am in the morning for me, we prepared for another long day of wedding festivities and ceremonies. Lan started with a grooms procession, which consist of his groomsmen, family and friends bearing gifts to the brides home. After meeting him at the door and accepting the marriage proposal and gifts we exchanged rings. Then came the "Passing of Blessings" ceremony. In this ceremony, currently married couples are asked to gather in a circle around the bride and groom. Three candles are lit and handed from person to person. Each participant passes his or her right hand over it in a sweeping motion towards the couple, sending or throwing a silent blessing to them. Only married couples are asked to participate, as it is believed that they will pass along the special quality or essence which has preserved their union. The candles are passed around the circle clockwise seven times to complete the ceremony. And Finally come the Knot tying Ceremony. Close family and friends are invited to come forward to bring their best wishes and blessings to the new couple by individually tying ribbons around each of their wrists. Saturday ended with a huge reception including a 9 course meal and approximately 400 guests in attendance. After 2 long days and 7 outfits later, one for each ceremony, we were finally married.

Tradition Wedding Shoot

Here's a picture of the husband at I at the International Peace Garden. We decided to do a Bridal/Groomal shoot in traditional Cambodian clothes. Of course I had to choose lavender since its my favorite color.

Hello to all Bloggers. I'm a little slow with all this blogging madness so our page will be a little blah. So for now our blog is under Mad construction...ETA Until I figure out what the heck a Dashboard is and how in the world I make changes to my profile. :)
